Viola

The viola is slightly larger than the violin.  The viola also has a lower range and tends to have a rich and mellow sound.  Sound is created when the strings are plucked or bowed causing them to vibrate.

Physical Characteristics 

The viola is held by resting the instrument on your left shoulder and holding it in place with your chin. This is similar to the violin.
